Windows 11 Company-wide Upgrades
Overview
This project involved upgrading the company’s computers to Windows 11, ensuring modern security, consistent performance, and compatibility with current software. The initiative streamlined workflows, reduced IT issues, and aligned desktop environments with long-term business goals.
Problem
The company was running a mix of older Windows versions, which caused compatibility issues, security vulnerabilities, and inconsistent performance. Legacy hardware and unsupported systems increased downtime and required frequent IT intervention.
Solution
I led the upgrade with a structured, comprehensive approach:
- Assessment: Evaluated all endpoints for Windows 11 compatibility and hardware readiness.
- Compatible machines:
- Imaged with a standardized Windows 11 image
- User data backed up and restored
- User profiles configured to maintain continuity
- Non-compatible machines:
- Replaced with new machines pre-installed with Windows 11
- User data migrated from old systems
- Profiles configured for seamless transition
- Training & Documentation: Provided guidance and resources for users to navigate Windows 11 features effectively.
Result
- All users now operate on Windows 11, with upgraded or replaced hardware where necessary.
- Standardized IT environment across the organization, simplifying support and maintenance.
- Improved system security, performance, and compatibility.
- Reduced downtime and ensured smooth transition for employees by backing up data and restoring user profiles.
Reflection
This project reinforced the importance of strategic planning and careful execution in IT upgrades. By balancing technical precision (imaging, backups, profile setup) with operational continuity (replacing non-compatible machines), I demonstrated both hands-on expertise and leadership in delivering business-aligned solutions.
